Best Time to Visit West India (Region by Region)

Maharashtra & Pune (Year-round, peaks Oct–Feb) October to February is the most comfortable time for sightseeing. The Western Ghats (Mahabaleshwar, Lonavala) are most dramatic during monsoon (July–September) with waterfalls and lush green roads.

Goa (October to February) Peak season. Pleasant weather, all beach shacks open, and the famous Christmas-New Year festive atmosphere. Avoid May–June (off-season heat). Monsoon in Goa (July–September) is quieter and scenic if you don't mind rain.

Gujarat (November to February) The only time to visit Rann of Kutch is during winter. The Rann Utsav festival (November to February) turns the white salt desert into a cultural celebration. Gir National Park (Asiatic lions) is best October to June.

Konkan Coast (October to February for beaches; July–September for the lush green drive) The Konkan highway in monsoon is one of the most scenic drives in India — green hills, waterfalls, and empty roads. For beach trips, October to February is the best.

FAQs

Is it possible to tailor my West India tour itinerary?

Yes, completely. All our itineraries are just starting points. You can add stops, remove destinations, change the number of days, or start from a different city. Just tell us where you want to go and how many days you have — we'll plan the route around that.

What is the best route for a road trip from Pune to West India?

What is the best route for a road trip from Pune to West India?
It depends on what you want to see. For beaches and Konkan, the NH66 coastal highway via Mahabaleshwar, Ratnagiri, and Malvan to Goa is one of the most scenic drives in India. For heritage and pilgrimage, the Mumbai → Nashik → Shirdi → Aurangabad loop is the top pick. For Gujarat, the route goes via Mumbai → Vadodara → Ahmedabad → Statue of Unity → Rann of Kutch. Our drivers know all these routes well and will take the best road based on traffic and season.

Is it safe to travel by road in West India during the monsoon?

Yes, with the right driver and vehicle, it is very safe. The monsoon actually makes some routes — especially the Konkan coast and the Western Ghats — absolutely stunning, with waterfalls, green hills, and empty roads. Our drivers are experienced on ghat and coastal roads in all weather conditions. The one thing we recommend is avoiding night driving on ghat roads during heavy rain, and we always plan itineraries keeping that in mind.

How many days are enough for a West India road trip?

A 6 to 7-day trip comfortably covers either the Coastal & Goa route or the Heritage & Spiritual loop through Maharashtra. For Gujarat, plan at least 7 to 8 days. If you want to combine Gujarat and Rajasthan together, 12 to 14 days is ideal. We can suggest a realistic day-by-day plan based on however many days you have available.

Can I do a one-way road trip and fly back?

Yes. One-way drops are available for all routes. A popular example is Pune to Goa by cab and flying back, or Pune to Ahmedabad by cab and returning by train. WhatsApp us your route and we'll share the one-way fare.

Which vehicle is best for a long West India road trip?

For couples or small families on a budget, the Sedan CNG or Sedan Diesel works well for shorter routes like the Coastal & Goa loop. For families of 5 to 6, the Ertiga or Kia Carens gives the best balance of comfort and space. For senior citizens or anyone doing a long multi-day trip across Gujarat or Rajasthan, the Innova Crysta is the top recommendation — best suspension, most legroom, and the most comfortable for 8 to 10 hours of daily driving.

Can senior citizens travel comfortably on these road trips?

Absolutely. We plan itineraries with shorter daily drives, proper rest stops, and early departures to avoid afternoon heat. The Innova Crysta is the vehicle we recommend for senior travelers — it is the most comfortable for long hours on the road and handles highway and ghat roads better than any other cab in our fleet.

Is there a km limit per day on multi-day packages?

Yes. Our standard outstation package covers 300 km per day. For Mumbai-based routes, the limit is 350 km per day. If your daily drive exceeds the limit — for example if you add an unplanned stop or extend a leg — extra km are charged at the same per-km rate as your vehicle type. No different rate, no surprise charges.

Which UNESCO World Heritage Sites in West India can be visited by road from Pune?

There are six UNESCO sites within comfortable road trip distance from Pune — Ajanta Caves and Ellora Caves in Aurangabad, the Historic City of Ahmedabad, Rani Ki Vav stepwell in Patan, Champaner-Pavagadh in Gujarat, and the Churches of Old Goa. All six can be covered across our Heritage Loop and Royal Gujarat Drive itineraries.

Mention some of the must-visit UNESCO sites in West India that can be accessed by road?

Ajanta and Ellora Caves, Rani ki Vav, Champaner Pavagadh are all accessible via road.
